A Fort Dodge man was arrested over the weekend in Grand Junction on an outstanding warrant and additionally charged for alleged drug possession.

According to court documents, 33-year-old Jonathan Kennedy was arrested on an outstanding warrant at 5:41am Thursday, after a Greene County Sheriff’s Deputy received information that Kennedy was at the Casey’s General Store in Grand Junction. An arrest warrant for Kennedy was issued following an investigation by the Jefferson Police Department of a burglary incident from December 7th. Kennedy was charged with a Class C Felony for second degree burglary.

Court documents show that when Kennedy was arrested Thursday at Casey’s, the deputy searched his person and found marijuana and methamphetamine, along with stolen property from Casey’s. Kennedy was then charged with a Class D Felony for his third or subsequent offense for possession of controlled substance, along with additional charges including second degree theft, and an additional possession of controlled substance. Kennedy will face additional burglary charges, pending an investigation with the sheriff’s office.

Kennedy was taken to the Greene County Jail, where he was booked and later released under his own recognizance. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
