For those who feel they are part of the first priority group for COVID-19 vaccinations, the Dallas County Health Department has some important reminders.

For the first round of the vaccines, the top priority group consists of frontline healthcare and emergency medical service workers and those in long-term care facilities. DCHD Public Information Officer Ann Cochran says she wants to make sure people in those priority groups don’t fall through the cracks.

“If you believe that you are in that first category, that 1-A group, that would be direct healthcare workers, and you haven’t heard anything yet about getting immunized please talk to your employer.”

Cochran says it’s important to talk with your employer so that you aren’t accidentally forgotten, such as you live in Dallas County but work in Polk County.

“Your employer might be thinking that you are getting your immunization here and vice versa.”

Cochran says if you don’t know if you’re employer will administer the vaccine to you, you can contact the DCHD at 515-993-3750.
