Mc Kinley Robbins

Among the highlights of Greene County High School’s three wrestling dual meets on Thursday night in Burnside was career victory number 50 for sophomore McKinley Robbins. The top ranked Iowa high school Class 2A wrestler at 120 lbs. won by fall in the first period in all three of his matches to improve to 15-0 this season and 52-2 in his young career. In the process, he became the fastest to 50 career wins in the 55 year history of wrestling for the Jefferson-based program.

Greene County went 2-1 in dual meets last night with a 51-23 victory over Ogden, followed by a 60-12 win vs. Audubon. The evening ended with a 53-24 loss to host Southeast Valley. Coach Zach Beekman’s Rams are now 9-6 in dual meets with more duals on the schedule Saturday in Webster City.

In addition to Robbins, three other Rams went 3-0 on the evening with Brenner Gallagher (113), Brady Stauffer (138), and Nathan Black (152) accomplishing the feat. Gallagher, a junior who was a top 12 finisher at the State Tournament last February, made his season debut. He won by fall and collected two forfeits. Stauffer, a senior, and Black, a junior, both had two falls and a forfeit, and both have lost just once so far this season.
