Greene County wrestled on Saturday in Webster City in what turned out to be a triangular with the host Lynx, the Rams, and Algona Bulldogs. Originally scheduled to be a dual meet tournament, the Dick Kennedy Duals were whittled down to three teams. The Rams lost both matches by close margins and are 9-8 on the season.

Forfeits were a factor in both matches as the Rams went 12-7 in the 19 matches that were actually contested on the mat. Greene County lost to Algona 40-37, then fell to the Lynx 44-36. The Rams collected one forfeit, but had four open weights themselves vs Algona, handing the Bulldogs 24 free points while collecting just six. Against WC, the Rams also forfeited four weights, while the Lynx filled all 14 weight classes, a difference of 24 points.

Sophomore McKinley Robbins, ranked number one in Class 2A at 120 lbs., improved to 17-0 this season with a pair of Saturday sfalls. John Sprague at 126, Brady Stauffer at 138, Nate Black 152, and Sawyer Schiltz 285 were also 2-0. Both Sprague and Stauffer were close to being pinned vs. WC, but both overcame deficits to win by fall. Stauffer and Black each have just one loss this season.

After wrestling three times last week, the Rams have three more events on the schedule for this week. After traveling to Harlan Tuesday for a single dual, the Rams are scheduled to wrestle at home for the first time this season on Thursday. Greene County is set to host PCM (Monroe), South Hamilton (Jewell), and Pocahontas Area in the new Greene County gym. Next Saturday means a trip to eastern Iowa for the large Solon Spartan Invitational.
