On Thursday, Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds signed a new Public Health Disaster Proclamation removing spectator limits for all sporting and recreational events.

Adair-Casey/Guthrie Center Activities Director Cody Matthewson says it will be great to have more of the community at  the games.

“We have the ability for the kids to be able to feed off the energy of the crowd and students if there’s a large student section. There’s a reason the phrase home-field advantage is around. It does make a difference especially when there’s people (that) don’t have to travel far to be able to watch an event. I think it’ll make a difference, and our kids will enjoy the heck out of it.”

Attendees will still need to wear a mask at events. Elementary students will need to stay with their family members, while students from 7th grade on up may stay with family or sit in a designated area. Guidelines may change for multiple team tournaments and will be announced before the event.
