Even though the weather outside is cold this time of year, the Dallas County Conservation Board (DCCB) says the Raccoon River Valley Trail (RRVT) is getting plenty of use.

DCCB Outreach Coordinator Sarah Gilchrist says they have seen plenty of signs of activity out on the trail. Some of the trails have been made by humans and some of them by their furry friends.

“They have been seeing everything from footprints, dog prints, fat-tire bike trails and also we allow snowmobiling on the actual surfaces if there is enough snow. Obviously, that is not something you can do at all times.”

Gilchrist says that DCCB does not clear or groom the paths to allow for people to cross country ski and snowmobile on the trail. Gilchrist also encourages people to stay up to date with what DCCB is up to, by going to their website.

To keep up with DCCB you can go to their website here or you can like the Dallas County Conservation Board on Facebook.
