The Ten Squared Women of Guthrie County distributed the organization’s final donations of 2020 between three recipients.

The Tori’s Angels Foundation in Panora received $7,450. President and Chairman Bill Ridgley says he appreciates the generosity from the non-profit organization and the rest of the community for helping them meet their fundraising goals.

“We’re always thankful for every penny we receive, and this money is definitely a shot in the arm for us. It’s come just during our annual fund drive, which ran from Nov. 1 through Dec. 31. We established a goal of $150,000 and we’ve exceeded that dramatically.”

The Panora and Guthrie Center fire departments each received $1,675 from the fourth-quarter donation. Panora Assistant Fire Chief Curtis Twigg says the department appreciates the donation and the funds may go toward a project to help them when the power is out.

“When they asked us what we were needing, we were looking into a generator so when the power goes out, we can access our garage door openers instead of doing it manually.”

Other recipients of donations from the Ten Squared Women of Guthrie County for last year include the Jamaica Youth Park Project, New Opportunities in Guthrie Center, the Guthrie County Hospital Foundation and the Guthrie County Arts Project. In total, the organization donated over $45,000 in 2020 and $175,700 since its inception in 2017.
