Paton-Churdan and Ar-We-Va (Westside) each won a Rolling Valley Activities Conference basketball game on Tuesday night in Churdan. P-C won the girls’ game 52-24 and AWV won the boys’ contest 57-30.

Coach Tom Kennedy’s girls’ squad was in control from the outset with 6′ 3″ senior Danielle Hoyle leading all scorers with 26 points. Junior Carmyn Paup had 12 points and three of her four field goals came from three-point range. The home team led by just six points, 19-13, at halftime, before dominating the second half 33-11. P-C is now 7-1 in the conference and 9-2 overall.

The P-C boys fell to 3-8 overall and 2-6 in RVAC action. AWV had a blistering first quarter that saw the visiting team lead 29-5 after one quarter. The halftime score was 41-9. Eight different players from P-C had at least two points, but no one had more than six. Joe Carey led the home team in scoring with Forest Thompson had a team leading seven rebounds.
