The Guthrie County Board of Supervisors met yesterday to continue discussing county fiscal year 2022 budgets.

County Conservation Director Brad Halterman presented an update on the department, including plans for School of the Wild classes from the University of Iowa Wildlife Camps. Halterman also presented his department’s budget to the board, saying he was happy with the mixture of projects, equipment and facilities included.

County Treasurer Marci Schreck presented her semi-annual report for the second half of 2020, which was approved unanimously by the Supervisors. She presented her department’s budget for FY 2022. The Board tabled further discussion on both budget presentations as county employee pay raises are still under consideration.

County Attorney Brenna Bird and Facilities Manager Brandon Thompson discussed an update to courtroom technology. The county would be responsible for only cabling for the project, with the State Courts responsible for the equipment. The Supervisors approved Thompson to sign on the county’s behalf for the project.

County Sheriff Marty Arganbright met with the Supervisors concerning a payroll change for Deputy Blake Michelsen. The policy concerning raises for county employees has changed during Michelsen’s tenure, and the Supervisors tabled the change to seek additional information concerning which schedule should apply.

The Supervisors reviewed a pair of lots at Diamondhead Lake that were county-owned because an individual requested information on purchasing the lots. Finally, the Board reviewed various budgets including the Airport, Flood and Erosion and Drainage.
