William “Bill” Burket age 91 of Minburn passed away on Friday, February 12, 2021 at the MercyOne Medical Center in Des Moines, IA. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 25, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at the Minburn United Methodist Church in Minburn. Visitation will be on Wednesday, February 24, 2021 from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. with family present from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Carris Family Funeral Home & Cremation Care in Perry. Burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery at Minburn, IA. Everyone is encouraged to wear face coverings and practice social distancing while attending visitation and services. Memorials will be given to Minburn United Methodist Church and may be left at the Carris Family Funeral Home & Cremation Care. Online condolences may be left at www.carrisfuneralhome.com.
William “Bill” Henry Burket was born on May 21, 1929 at Perry, IA to Floyd Maxwell and Lucille (Ellerman) Burket. He graduated from Minburn High School and then graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in Animal Science. He served in the United States Marines during the Korean War. He was united in marriage to Jan Mae Smith at Des Moines, IA on August 10, 1952. He farmed all his life near Minburn.
He was a member of the Minburn United Methodist Church, the Minburn American Legion #99, and the Otley Masonic Lodge #299 in Perry.
In death he rejoins his wife Jan, parents, Floyd and Lucille.
Left to cherish Bill’s memory are his, sons, Don (Trish) Burket, Boone, IA, Greg (Barb) Burket, Minburn, IA, and Chuck (Gina) Burket, Grimes, IA, grandchildren, Hope (Michael) Rand, Faith (Justin) Henson, Matthew Burket, Heidi Burket and Megan Burket, great grandchildren, Kyrie and Lexis and a sister Jean (Richard) Hubbard, Gowrie, IA.
