One Greene County High School basketball season is over and another hopes to keep playing. The Rams went 6-13 in girls’ basketball after losing to Atlantic in Atlantic on Saturday in the opening round of Class 3A Region 1 action by a 65-29 score. Junior Brianna Habben had 14 points and six rebounds for the Rams while senior Brianna Osterson had nine points and nine rebounds. Haley Rasmussen scored 28 points for Atlantic, 20 in the first half, helping the 9-13 Trojans to a 27-14 halftime lead. Saturday’s game was heard on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.

The Greene County boys open Class 2A District 14 basketball tonight in Burnside vs. Southeast Valley at 7 o’clock. Coverage on KG98 begins around 6:30 p.m. The Jaguars were 69-48 winners one week ago tonight in Jefferson during the regular season. Coach Chris Nelson’s Rams are 5-14 while SEV is 12-9. The winner plays on Feb. 18 in Story City vs. top seed Roland-Story while the losing team has its season come to an end.
