ADM Tigers wrestling had four wrestlers compete in districts on Saturday in Adel, with the opportunity to send some grapplers to state. By the end of the action, the Tigers were able to determine that they were sending two to Des Moines this upcoming week with sophomore Ben Smith winning the district championship at 132 and sophomore Jake Alexander 2nd at 106.

Smith was able to put together a great showing at 132, winning in the semifinals over Luke Spaur of Knoxville in a 5-0 decision, then winning the championship with a 5-2 decision over Riece Graham of Woodward-Granger. Defense was key for Smith, has he put on a clinic on the mat to secure the result.

Alexander was able to defeat Remington Fry of Prairie City – Monroe in a 10-3 decision before falling to Cody Hay of Bondurant-Farrar via fall at 5:05.

At 138 Kadin O’Connor was unable to advance finishing 3rd, and at 152, Gage Davis was able to also get third in a strong showing.

For both Smith and Alexander, this will be the first trips to the state tournament for both, and they both should have tough but fun draws on the horizon.
