U.S. Congresswoman Cindy Axne

As Iowa’s Third Congressional District Representative Cindy Axne continues making stops in different locations within her area of Iowa, a common thing she has heard is housing in rural communities and how it’s not affordable.

Axne is sponsoring the Rural Housing Preservation Act, which she says will help preserve affordable housing in rural communities and ensure those opportunities happen across the country.

Another effort Axne says that they did to help small businesses is by extending the deadline on the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP).

“The PPP, which gave small businesses, and farmers and independent contractors, and all folks who literally who own a business people or bringing in a paycheck on their own, they have now until May 31st to apply for the PPP loans.”

Axne points out that there is about $65 billion remaining in PPP through the Small Business Administration (SBA). This goes for first and second loans. Axne also said to reach out to her office or SBA if you need help applying for those funds.
