The Guthrie Center City Council met Monday in regular session.

The Council reviewed the proposed budget amendments to the current fiscal year budget. Some of the major items included higher gas expenses due to the cold winter season, along with a sewer lining project, geothermal for the city’s library, among other items. The Council is expected to set a public hearing at the next regular meeting for those amendments.

Finally, the Council had a discussion on the R&S Disposal rate increase request. The Guthrie County landfill is going to increase the payment rates for contractors to dump garbage and recycling. The Council approved to use the fund balance reserves from solid waste to cover the increase rate of $0.25 per customer per month and will reassess in the fall.
