A Scranton bank robbery suspect has been federally indicted.

According to court documents, 27-year-old Zachary Michael Anderson Wailes of Fort Dodge had his charges from the Greene County Sheriff’s Office, including felonies for robbery and theft, dismissed in lieu of being indicted by a federal grand jury on “charges arising from the same set of underlying facts.”

The indictment stemmed from an alleged February 25th robbery of Peoples Bank in Scranton. Wailes allegedly entered the bank around 10:37am February 25th and had a handgun in the pocket of his hooded sweatshirt. He then fled in a vehicle with about $20,000 in cash.

A second suspect, 26-year-old Tyler Mattingly of Fort Dodge, has pled not guilty in his arraignment to charges that were filed by the sheriff’s office, including a Class B Felony for aiding and abetting robbery in the first degree and a Class C Felony for first degree theft.
