The Lincoln Valley Golf Course east of State Center hosted the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference boys’ golf tournament Tuesday, and the same course is being used for the girls’ conference meet today. Despite not having much experience on that course, the Greene County boys finished in second place in the 18-hole event. PCM (Monroe) was first with 334 strokes and both the Rams and Nevada had 345. West Marshall had 354 with 360 for Roland-Story (Story City), 370 by South Hamilton (Jewell), and 413 from Saydel (Des Moines).

Greene County coach Heath Telleen told Raccoon Valley Radio, “I am so proud of the boys and their play. We shot our season low score for 18 holes and Joe Carey, Kole Teeples, and Caden Telleen, all shot career low 18 hole scores. Joe placed fourth and we hope to build on this momentum for Thursday’s tournament in Jewell, I know we have some lower scores in us.”

Carey shot 82 with Teeples at 85, Telleen and Jack Hansen were at 89 with Sawyer Schiltz shooting 96, and Nathan Behne 98.

Caden Jones of Nevada shot 75 for medalist honors with Andrew Mitchell of PCM the runner-up at 89.
