U.S. Congresswoman Cindy Axne

As Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds recently signed a new state law making permits to carry a firearm optional in the state, one U.S. House member thinks gun control is going in the wrong direction.

In light of recent gun violence across the country, Congresswoman Cindy Axne talks about gun violence.

“We have already seen kindergartners slain at the hands of an attacker. We can’t go a week without mass shootings. We lose 100 people a day in this country to gun violence. I can’t believe that we are still at a place where we are not putting appropriate rules on the books.”

Axne tells Raccoon Valley Radio there should be reasonable background checks to keep guns out of the hands of people who shouldn’t have them as well as a waiting period to ensure people purchasing don’t pose a safety risk.

“All we are asking is for some reasonable solutions. It’s what Americans want and unfortunately our Governor here seems to be taking us and our legislatures on the Republican side in the wrong direction and honestly putting us in harm’s way.”

Axne says there could be more harm done by putting more guns in the hands of people.
