Greene County High School seniors Brianna Osterson and Jaxon Warnke received Female and Male Ram of the Year Awards at Senior Awards Night Tuesday at the high school. The awards are presented to a senior girl and senior boy who were nominated by at least one head coach of a sport the athlete participated in. The award is based on athletic talent, personality, as well as leadership on and off the field. An anonymous committee makes the final selections.

Osterson was in volleyball, basketball, track & field, and cheerleading. She earned postseason honors on the court in volleyball and basketball where she was a Heart of Iowa Activities Conference All-Conference selection. She is a multiple qualifier for State competition in her track & field career, including qualifying for the long jump, and the 4 x 100 and 4 x 200 meter relays this week at Drake Stadium in Des Moines. She’s also been a top eight finisher in the past at State and the Drake Relays in the long jump.

Warnke was a standout on the football field and on the track. He was an All-District selection in football, helping the Rams to a 7-3 record last fall and advancing to the Class 2A round of 16 in the playoffs as a receiver and defensive back. On the track, Warnke is part of the State Meet and Drake Relays qualifying shuttle hurdle relay, as well as State qualifying 4 x 200 and 4 x 400 meter relays. He and his teammates take to the Blue Oval starting tomorrow.
