Dallas Center – Grimes girls soccer has defeated the number two and three seeds in the state soccer tournament, and now will be looking to beat the number one seed in Waverly – Shell Rock in Des Moines this afternoon at Cownie Sports Complex. Both of these teams will be looking for their first state title, with DCG making their third appearance and W-SR their fifth. DCG last appeared in 2009, where they lost 1-0 to Cedar Rapids – Xavier.

DCG is coming off of a 1-0 victory over Norwalk on Wednesday while Waverly – Shell Rock a 5-1 victory over Spencer after putting up five unanswered goals. Both of these teams have had tough roads to the finals, with both sides having high scoring matchups and 1-0 victories as well.

These two foes faced off earlier this season, with the Go-Hawks grabbing the 3-2 victory in 60 minutes of play, as both sides were able to find success offensively. W-SR is home to one of the best talents in the state in senior forward Kenzie Roling, who leads 2A in goals scored on the season, including two back in these two teams first matchup.

Both of these teams have been mainstays in the state tournament for many years, but for one team, they will be finalizing their season with a state championship title.
