The Community Players of Greene County are once again going to perform its summer show this weekend.

The first showing of  “The Bigfoot Monologues” will be today at the Rippey Sesquicentennial +1 event in front of the library at 2pm. The second performance will take place tomorrow at 1pm outside of the Scranton Community Center.

The play is based on Bigfoot and how he is upset with humans intruding on his territory. He then enlists the help of other creatures, such as the Lockness Monster and Yeti, as they share their experiences with humans. Director Nat Payan is leading her first-ever production and is studying theater at the University of Iowa. She talks about bringing local playwright Sarah Nicholson’s story to life.

“Well my emphasis in my major is playwriting. So I’m really familiar with, just closing my eyes, kind of imagining the stage in front of me, and what each character is doing. That’s what I’ve tried to do with this script as well.”

Both performances are free and attendees are encouraged to bring their own chairs. A meal will be served at tomorrow’s show by the Scranton Betterment Committee. The menu includes  grilled pork sandwich, chips, cookies and water for $5.
