A federal moratorium from evictions expires today, and Dallas County residents could see an impact.

According to the New York Times database, 10.8-percent of renters in Dallas County are behind on their rent and owe an average of $3,512 as the moratorium expires. Landlords will soon be able to attempt the eviction process.

For those who may be facing possible eviction because of being behind on rent payments,  there are multiple options for assistance including rental assistance, eviction assistance, among others. The federal government also allows applications for the Emergency Rental Assistance program which is under the American Rescue Plan.
