A reminder that a ribbon-cutting ceremony is taking place later today of a structure on the Raccoon River Valley Trail in Greene County.

Jefferson Matters: A Main Street and Chamber Community Ambassadors are hosting a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 4pm at the bike trail bridge south of Jefferson, near 252nd Street. Additionally, there will be free “Bike Jefferson” t-shirts while supplies last. The event will include a couple of keynote speakers, including Greene County Conservation Director Dan Towers and Cooper resident and RRVT Board member Chuck Offenburger.

About 70 feet of the 600 foot bridge collapsed in March of 2019, due to ice jams. The project cost over $850,000, with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) paying for 85-percent of the repairs. The ribbon-cutting is open to the public.
