The Panorama Panthers Football Team was looking to get back into the win column Friday night but fell short against the visiting Central Decatur Cardinals in Panora.

The Panthers came into Friday’s game, which was military night, with an overall record of 1-1 after a win against the Colfax-Mingo Tigerhawks and a loss to the Pella Christian Eagles. Central Decatur also came into Friday night’s game with a record of 1-1.

The Panthers came out with an early lead over the Cardinals putting up three points on a field goal in the first quarter. Then the Cardinals found the end zone twice to go up 14-3 as the teams headed to halftime. The Cardinals wouldn’t score again but the Panthers were unable to answer with touchdowns of their own but did score two more points on a safety.

The Panthers lost Friday’s game by a score of 14-5 struggling to find the end zone throughout four quarters of play. The Panthers fall to 1-2 on the season but will be looking to get back on track next week and try to even out their overall record with another win.

The Panthers will face a tough opponent next week when they travel to Van Meter to face the Bulldogs who are currently 3-0 on the season. The kickoff for that game is scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday, September 17th.
