Greene County’s high school cross-country season is only two meets old, but preseason enthusiasm for the boys’ team by Coach Jeff Lamoureux and others is coming to fruition. The Rams were second at Saturday’s Greene County Invitational among 10 teams, following up a second place finish in their first meet hosted by West Central Valley.

The only home meet this season for the Rams was held under bright sunshine and very hot and humid conditions, yet the boys performed well, led by senior Logan Woodruff. He has high goals for himself and the team for 2021 and his performance on Saturday should lend credence to both. Woodruff ran the five kilometers (3.1 miles) in 18 minutes, 24 seconds. Not a blistering time, but considering the heat, humidity, and the number of turns on the course, the coach was pleased with his number one runner’s effort.

Greene County runs this Thursday at the Panorama Invitational on the Lake Panorama Par 3 Golf Course.
