A Churdan man was arrested for drunk driving over the weekend.

According to the Greene County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy noticed a vehicle swerving on 130th Street near N Avenue and conducted a traffic stop at 2:33am Sunday.

Greene County Sheriff Jack Williams tells Raccoon Valley Radio during the investigation the deputy noticed signs of intoxication and the driver, 38-year-old Travis Ventiecher refused to do a field sobriety test or submit to a breathalyzer test. Following the investigation, Ventiecher was arrested and charged with serious misdemeanors for his first offense for an OWI and his first offense for possession of a controlled substance, and a simple misdemeanor for possession of drug paraphernalia. The deputy also asked Ventiecher if he had drug-related items on his person and he told the deputy he did not.

Williams says after Ventiecher was booked into the Greene County Jail, a jailer found a smoking device on Ventiecher’s person and he was additionally charged with a Class D Felony for possession of contraband in a correctional facility.
