State funding was recently allocated for an ongoing project in Dallas County to connect two recreational trails. 

The Let’s Connect Project is aiming to connect both the Raccoon River Valley Trail and the High Trestle Trail. The Iowa Department of Transportation Commission announced that the project received $220,080 toward the project. 

The funding is a part of the State Recreational Trails Program and $1,497,675 was awarded to four different projects throughout Iowa. The program was created in 1988 for the purpose of developing and maintaining recreational trails and trail-related facilities. 

The funding is available to cities, counties, state agencies, local governments and non-profit organizations through an annual application process.
