The Jefferson City Council met Tuesday night in regular session.

Following a public hearing, the Council approved a grant application for a Community Development Block Grant for $500,000 for six upper story apartments at 123 North Chestnut Street. Additionally, the Council authorized Region XII Council of Governments as the grant administrator and a development agreement for the apartment project, subject to being awarded the grant through Iowa Economic Development Authority. 

The Council also approved the promotion of Jason Kroeger to the rank of police captain, a facade rehabilitation grant of $40,938 to the Sierra Community Theater, a $24,035 change order related to the runway extension project for the Jefferson Municipal Airport, a pay request to Concrete Technologies of $139,634 toward the airport runway project and a certificate of substantial completion of the airport project.

Finally, the Council approved a donation of property at 1006 North Walnut Street and a resolution for the benefits and economic impact of having a gambling facility located in Jefferson in relation to the upcoming November 2nd election of whether or not to reauthorize gaming in Greene County.
