Perry’s Academic, Cultural and Enrichment Services (P.A.C.E.S) will be celebrating the importance of after school programs this week.

Project Director Mary Hillman says this week will be the annual Lights on After School program which will be celebrated across two days: Wednesday and Thursday. Hillman talks about Wednesday’s event with a fundraiser walk, where students will walk laps at Kaufman Track.

“People can make pledges for that, either per lap or a flat fee, and I just challenge anybody in the community just to simply donate one dollar because if people did that just think how that would add up. The money goes back to the program.”

Hillman tells Raccoon Valley Radio Thursday will feature a program beginning at 5 p.m. at the elementary school lunchroom and have activities such as guest speakers, a talent show and more. Hillman encourages people to come out.

“Come and walk with us, participate, come to the program. I think it will make you really feel good about the things that are happening in Perry. Perry Schools just does a tremendous job I think in supporting students and our families and I can’t say enough about the great families that we are also serving.”
