Greene County finished its high school cross-country season last Thursday at the Class 2A State Qualifying Meet hosted by Southeast Valley on the golf course in Gowrie. The boys were eighth among 14 teams and the girls had just two runners, not enough for a team score.

Coach Jeff Lamoureux told Raccoon Valley Radio he thought the runners did well even though no one qualified for the Oct. 30 State Meet north of Ft. Dodge at Kennedy Park. “I thought we did real well. We had a lot of personal bests and season bests. We knew it was a very tough field with the fifth, sixth, and seventh rated teams in 2A in that meet. I was proud of their efforts.”

Jayden and Jax Carstensen, and Logan Woodruff are seniors who ran at Gowrie. The rest of the boys are eligible to run against next year. Both Greene County girls are juniors.
