Polk County public safety officials responded to a fatal crash Monday, which resulted in the death of a Perry man. 

According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a multi-vehicle crash at the intersection of NE Grimes Boulevard and NE Beaverbrooke Boulevard in Grimes at approximately 10:40 a.m. Monday. 

Preliminary reports show that southbound traffic was stopped for a red light and the operator of a Ford truck failed to stop at the red light and rear ended a 2008 Nissan Sentra, driven by the victim, pushing it into a trailer being towed by another truck.

A 47-year-old Perry man died on the scene as a result of the crash. The name of the driver is being withheld pending notification of family.
