With Shop Small Business Saturday on the horizon, people in Jefferson are also encouraged to support local businesses tomorrow with a little known promotion.

Jefferson Matters: A Main Street and Chamber Community Retail Revamped Committee Member Bonnie Silbaugh says tomorrow is Plaid Friday and she explains what that promotion is about.

“So what Plaid Friday does is it’s celebrating diversity and creativity of local and independent businesses. And it’s just a fun and enjoyable alternative to the big box, Black Friday, waiting in another line, elbow to elbow with people you don’t know. So this year, I think, is a really fun year to do Plaid Friday. You’re local shopping, you’re staying away from huge crowds, and you’re supporting all of the independent local business owners.”    

Silbaugh adds there are special hours for certain retailers during Plaid Friday, as well as Shop Small Business Saturday. She encourages everyone to check out the Jefferson Matters Facebook page for those hours.
