The year of 2021 has brought a lot of changes and some of them have been good, especially for one local school in Perry.

During the height of the coronavirus pandemic in 2020 many organizations had to alter or stop doing events and outreach programs, and St. Patrick’s Catholic School Principal Kandice Patillo says last year was no different for them.

“In the past we had kids kind of isolated and cohorted and separated to be safe with everything happening but we have been able to start to bring those events back and there has been more community events. We have been able to go out into the community.”

Patillo tells Raccoon Valley Radio some of the events that returned this year include field trips and reopening fun events back up to the community. Patillo says it’s a good feeling to be returning to a more normal setting.

“It just seems like that sense of closed-offness that we had to have to protect ourselves to stay in person this year has gone away a little bit and we have been able to be that community center point and really reach out and do more and we are looking forward to it.”

Other in person events coming back later this month include the Christmas Fun Night on December 7th among other events.
