Sunday afternoon at Greene County’s High School gym head football coach Caden Duncan and his staff presented letters and other awards to the players on the Rams’ 2021 team that won the Class 2A District 9 title at 5-0 with  no district game margin closer than 41 points. Overall, the Rams were 8-2, advanced to the round of 16 in the playoffs, and were ranked as high as third in the 2A polls.

Senior Jackson Morton was named the Landon Martin Team MVP with senior Bryce Stalder the Offensive MVP of the team, and senior Bradyn Smith the Defensive MVP for the season. Many players received multiple awards including letters, other team awards, All-District and All-State honors, as well as Academic All-District.

Shortly before Thanksgiving, the Iowa Print Sportswriters Association released their All-State teams and six Rams were on one of the three honor units with return man Richard Daugherty, a junior, and senior punter Nate Black on the first team, sophomore defensive lineman Michael Rumley, Smith at linebacker, and Morton at defensive back, all on the second team, and quarterback Stalder on the third team as the offensive utility player. Yesterday, the Des Moines Register came out with its All-State teams and Rumley was named to the defensive line in 2A. The Register only picks one All-State team per class. He was the only Greene County player selected by the Register, and is believed to be the only sophomore in the long history of high school football based in Jefferson on a football All-State first team.
