Greene County played Friday night’s Heart of Iowa Activities Conference boys’ basketball game on the road in Des Moines at Saydel without leader scorer Richard Daugherty due to illness. Without his 16.5 points per game average, the Rams were  looking for others to pick up the slack. Seniors Max Riley and Bryce Stalder did just that with 38 combined points. Stalder doubled his game average with Friday’s 21 points. Riley scored 17 in just his second game back, and his first start since returning from a broken fibula suffered late in the football season.

Daugherty’s availability for tonight’s contest vs. Panorama in Jefferson wasn’t known as of this post. The Panthers have won five of their last six games and are 6-4 while the Rams are 5-5 and Friday’s win vs. the Eagles stopped a three game losing streak.

It’s a girl/boy doubleheader tonight and it will be the Panthers’ first trip to the new high school in Jefferson. Coverage on KG98 and streaming on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com starts at 5:45 p.m. with the girls’ playing at 6 o’clock and the boys to follow.
