Recently, the Centers For Disease for Control and Prevention (CDC) provided a study showing people with prior infection of COVID-19 have protection against some forms of the virus.

Guthrie County Public Health Director Jotham Arber says studies are starting to come out and show that natural immunity is showing it has protection against COVID-19. Arber explains that the study from the CDC determined that people with prior infection had more protection against the Delta variant than people who were vaccinated. Arber stresses there are some people that he is concerned about, especially the unvaccinated population.

I still would say that, you know, if you haven’t been vaccinated and you haven’t had (COVID-19), that’s a pretty risky place to be because if you do look at the study, those folks that are unvaccinated and have not had COVID-19 yet their their rate of hospitalization or their likelihood of hospitalization and severe illness is much higher.”

According to the study, that vaccine began to wear off once the Delta strain started to spread and natural immunity became much stronger.
