Lawmakers are continuing to meet in the Iowa Capitol, and one local lawmaker says the beginning of the session has seen a lot getting accomplished.

The 2022 Iowa Legislative Session officially began earlier this year and Iowa House Representative for District 19 Carter Nordman says the beginning of the session has seen many tasks accomplished.

“This first part of session we’ve actually accomplished a lot that was kind on our agenda. We talked about taxes, talked about the girls’ sports, biofuels, so we have accomplished some of the heavy lifting in the front part of session here.”

Nordman tells Raccoon Valley Radio a lot of the bills that made it through the first funnel week and will continue to be discussed were related to department bills.

“Those bills are proposals from various departments around the State of Iowa to help them work more efficiently. I was assigned to a bill that made it out of funnel that would help the Department of Revenue work a little more efficiently.”

The 2022 Iowa Legislative Session officially began on January 10th.
