Ruth Cain Beaman, of Adel, was born in Madrid, IA, at her grandparents’ home on January 16, 1932, and died on June 29, 2022. Her parents, Floyd and Gladys Cain, moved to a farm south of Adel in Dallas County. All of her education came at the De Soto School, where sisters, Marabel Kersey, Frances Leonard, Shirley Baker, and brother, Arthur Cain, went also. Ruth married her high school sweetheart, on June 25, 1950, at her parents’ farm home. Russell Beaman came to De Soto High School from southwest of De Soto. They bought the secondhome ever built in Earlham on Maple Street. She worked at the bank there, and Russ worked at Hunter Motors. During the next ten years, they had their four children in Earlham. Carol Jean was born in 1951, Harold Dean in 1952, Kathleen Ann in 1957, and Christine Joan in 1959. Russ soon was working at KDPS, then IPTV. They both had amateur radio licenses, KOENA and KOAON, which they used to connect servicemen to home in the Korean War.

Ruth and Russ built a new home north of De Soto, and Ruth soon worked at the De Soto Elevator, and took classes on “sewing with knits”, so she could purchase fabric and start a 31 year business in a new building we built in De Soto. That new building is now a daycare. Sewing and teaching was her niche. Ruth and Russ moved to the Adel-De Soto area in 1967 for Adel schools. Ruth’s four children all got at least a 4-year college degree. The girls all were teachers and went to college in Missouri. Harold graduated from Iowa State. In 2011, Ruth and Russ moved to a new home just west of Evans Park in Adel.

Ruth enjoyed traveling to Europe, South America, and all 50 states from her small area in Iowa. She traveled with her sisters and brother, as they and their families are missionaries around the world. Ruth is survived by her husband, Russell; her two youngest daughters; hergrandchildren, Brooke, Alyssa, Gary, Nathan and Nicole; her great-granddaughter, Abbigale; and her siblings. They had a reunion at Adel Park last year. Her daughter, Kathy Clubb lives in Atlanta, GA and her daughter, Chris Ioli lives in Adel, IA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Gladys; her daughter, Carol Jean, and
her son, Harold Dean.
