The Stuart City Council met Monday. 

The Council approved a planning and zoning training for city departments, the rezone from the light industrial to residential for the lots North of Landus, an appointment to historic preservation commission, to adopt the bondurant’s fence ordinance and a request to close Northeast 2nd Street for an event with the permission from the police department. 

The Council approved a set date for a public hearing on a proposal to finance the to enter into a general obligation truck acquisition loan agreement along with the sale of old fire trucks. 

They approved adopting policies and procedures regarding municipal securities disclosure along with city cleaning services and the city brush sites. 

Finally, they held a public hearing on the 2022 street improvement project and awarded a contract for the projects to InRoads Paving for $187,000 and then the Council went into closed session for litigation. 

The Council tabled a proposal to close a portion of South Gaines Street and the safe routes for the school sidewalk and trail project for further evaluation.
