Saturday will be a large day of activities at the Dallas County Fair as it enters into its fourth day of action.

Tomorrow at the fair will include the 4-H/FFA junior feeder show at 8 a.m. in the livestock area, the beef show at 8:30 a.m. in the show ring and pet show at 9 a.m. in the entertainment plaza.  Also, the baby contest by Kids Korner will take place at 10 a.m. at center stage, 4-H/FFA cat show at 11:30 a.m. in the community building and the 4-H/FFA poultry show at 3 p.m. at the small animal building. The Dallas County Fair Board elections will also take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the gazebo. Dallas County Extension Youth Coordinator Elizabeth Emley says there will be a fun guest at the pet show.

“We also have our pet show going on and something super cool is we have a turtle coming to the pet show this year, I’m very excited. Then our Clover Kids pet show and our cat show. and then we end the day with the poultry show which is also another pretty big spotlight of Dallas County.”

Emley tells Raccoon Valley Radio a lot of work goes into getting the animals ready for the fair.

“You’ve worked with those animals for a long time to get them used to you, used to different environments and used to the different grooming techniques and so on and so forth. It takes a lot of tremendous hard work that these kids put into their animals.””

Saturday at the fair will also include bingo by the Adel-DeSoto-Minburn FFA Alumni at the campground shelter, space adventures near center stage and the Iowa State University Conservation Trailer

Raccoon Valley Radio’s Big Red Radio will be live on location from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. from the fairgrounds in Adel providing music and other announcements.
