With the 2022-23 school year right around the corner, the Annual Sales Tax Holiday begins today to help people get prepared.

People can purchase any clothing or shoes that are priced below $100 without sales or local option taxes until midnight Saturday. Some items not included are watches, watchbands, jewelry, umbrellas or any special clothing or footwear designed primarily for athletic activity or protective use and not usually considered appropriate for everyday wear.

Businesses that are open and have these items are required to participate and the Iowa Department of Revenue holds this holiday on the first Friday and Saturday of August each year.
