A new fundraiser event is coming up later this month and time is running out to register.

Midwest Behavioral Health in Jefferson is hosting its first-ever Swing for Recovery golf tournament on August 26th. The four-person best ball fundraiser will take place at the Jefferson Community Golf Course with a shotgun start at 9am. Owner Megan Ball says all proceeds will go to their non-profit organization, Iowa House Incorporated, which supports direct care for patients and helps those that are uninsured or under-insured.

“The idea behind having the two of them (Midwest Behavioral Health and Iowa House Incorporated) is that we can serve every client regardless of their ability to pay and every client will get the exact same quality of care.”

Ball points out her company includes a substance use disorder treatment program with secondary mental health services for adults and youth as young as 12 years old. She talks about why she wanted to start her business in Jefferson.

“Jefferson’s home. I’m raising my kids here, I have family here. If I can’t help where I live, how am I going to help anywhere else? But in all honesty we also do have some concerns with substance, with lack of resources, especially being in rural Iowa.”

The cost for a four-person team for the golf outing is $400, with a $60 cart fee. Lunch will be served by the Greene County Cattlemen’s Association and Jefferson Hy-Vee, along with raffle tickets sold during the event. Registration deadline is Friday. Click the link below to register.
