The third cross-country meet of the season for Greene County took place in very hot & humid conditions for this time of year. Coach Jeff Lamoureux’s runners were in action just east of State Center at the Lincoln Valley Golf course in a coed meet hosted by West Marshall. The Rams were second among six teams in the boys’ standings while the girls did not have the minimum five runners for a team score.

The Rams went nine, 10, 11, 17, and 21st for 68 points. Collins-Maxwell won the boys’ team race with 46 points and South Hamilton (Jewell) was third at 72, followed by West Marshall at 85, Ankeny Christian Academy 98, and 121 for Baxter.

Noah Hinote led Greene County with a ninth place finish in 20:48. Gavyn Winters was tenth in 20:49, and Ethan Frederick covered the five kilometers (3.1 miles) in 20:54. and was 11th. Kolby Angell was 17th in 22:00, and Carter Hinote was 21st in 22:52.

Olivia Shannon placed second on the girls’ side in 24:42. The other three Rams and their finishes were Ava Minnehan, 16th in 27:45, Autumn Stevens, 17th in 28:04, and Ava Jablonski, 25h in 30:30.

Greene County is back at it tomorrow at Story City for the Roland-Story Invitational.
