Greene County continues to be under a burn ban.

Greene County Sheriff and Jefferson Fire Chief Jack Williams says the burn ban has been in place since October 10th. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio this means there is to be no open burning of any kind in the county until further notice. According to the latest US Drought Monitor, all of Greene County is in a moderate drought.

The Cropland Fire Danger Index lists Greene County as having a high risk for a fire and a moderate risk for grassland fires for Monday. The State Fire Marshal’s Office lists 28 other counties that also have burn bans.
