The State Cross-Country meet was held just days ago north of Ft. Dodge at Kennedy Park and for the first time since 2017 there was a Greene County runner in the field. Sophomore Noah Hinote was 101st in the Class 2A boys five kilometers (3.1 miles) race.

Coach Jeff Lamoureux told Raccoon Valley Radio that he and many of the runners are already looking forward to 2023. “What Noah making it to State means to our program is going to be so important because it gets the other kids excited. It gets the other runners thinking that they can do this too, and maybe we’ve got a shot, so they’re already talking about off-season workouts for the 2023 season.”

Only two of the top seven Greene County boys are seniors, meaning a lot of experience is set to return next season. The girls had just the minimum five runners for a team score and the top two runners are seniors.
