The Perry boys basketball team knew that this week was going to be a challenging one following the long holiday break with two ranked teams visiting Perry.  7th ranked Nevada connected on 15-29 from the beyond the arc Tuesday night, defeating Perry 81-43.  Tonight, top ranked Grandview Christian brings an impressive resume to the Sports Pavilion for a 7:30 tipoff.

The Thunder are currently 7-0 on the season and feature a front line of 7-0, 6-9 and 6-5.  Guard Frankie Chiado leads the well balanced attack averaging 19 points per game.  7-0 center Daniel Totiloba is averaging 10 points, 12 rebounds and 6 blocks per game while shooting 73% from the floor.  6-9 sophomore Emiliano Barrantes is averaging double double numbers as well with 11 points and 10 rebounds a game.

Grandview Christian is an independent school that travels across the entire state and even outside the state to put together a full season schedule.  The Thunder closed out the 2022 calendar year with a 60 point win over Woodward Academy.  They also captured a weekend Missouri tournament championship earlier this year.

Perry enters tonight with a 3-6 record.  Drake Levan, Owen Myers and Zander Mahler are all averaging double figures in the balanced Bluejay offensive attack.  Perry Head Coach David Morris enjoys the opportunity to play a state championship type of team.

“Grandview is a program that is really, really solid.  I know their coach well and he does a really nice job.  In fact, I know quite a few of  their players  through our Corn Shark (AAU) team.  They have tons of talent, and are coached very well.  It will be a difficult challenge for sure but I know our kids are looking forward to it.”

You can listen to the game on KDLS tonight at 7:30.
