A fire Wednesday morning resulted in significant damage to a garage in Jefferson.

Jefferson Fire Chief Jack Williams tells Raccoon Valley Radio the Jefferson Fire and Police Departments, along with Greene County Ambulance responded to the scene at 11:44am at 701 North Cedar Street of the mobile home park. Williams says the interior of the storage garage caught fire when someone was using a heat gun to warm up a lawn mower engine, which then caught nearby gas, grease and oil containers on fire.

Williams notes the fire was contained to the detached metal garage, which sustained significant damage, and no one was hurt.

Police Chief Mark Clouse says the storage garage is owned by the property owner, Les Pierce.
