A former Churdan resident was recently arrested for a September 2022 incident.

According to court documents, an investigation began with the Greene County Sheriff’s Office on September 21st, when a deputy responded to a call of an allegedly stolen van. The van owner’s boyfriend used the vehicle to help move a kitchen appliance in Grand Junction on September 20th. The boyfriend saw the suspect, 32-year-old Ashley Kuenseter of Gilbert, steal the van when it was parked at the Casey’s General Store in Grand Junction.

The vehicle was eventually found in Ames by the Ames Police Department. The owner said there was just a keychain with several items that were missing. A search warrant was executed at Kuenseter’s home in Churdan. There, several drug-related items were recovered. Kuenseter also admitted to stealing the van and she admitted to being in possession of all of the recovered drug items from the search warrant.

Kunester was arrested over the weekend and faces a Class C Felony for first degree theft, a Class D Felony for her third or subsequent offense for possession of a controlled substance, and a simple misdemeanor for possession of drug paraphernalia. She was booked into the Greene County Jail. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
