The Stuart City Council met in a special meeting Monday night.

The Council approved setting the tax levy at $15.51 per $1,000 for the 2023-2024 budget. They also set a time and place for a public hearing for considering the maximum tax dollars from certain tax levies for the City’s proposed Fiscal Year 2023-2024 budget, which will be held on February 13th at 6:30pm.

The Council also approved a contract extension proposed by Stuart Public Works Director Jim Henderson. The mowing contract with TCB Lawn Care, LLC will be for $32,000 for eight months, from April 2023 through November 2023. Main Street Marketing Owner Nate Westre made a presentation regarding a marketing proposal to the Council, who asked that the proposal be discussed with the Utility Board at their joint meeting on February 13th at 6pm. City Engineer Forrest Aldrich made a presentation regarding a site plan for Kwik Star that was approved.
