
The Perry Jayette basketball team defeated Des Moines Hoover 47-43 Monday night in the regular season opener for both teams. The Jayettes rallied from an early 10 point deficit to win the season opener for the second straight year. Hoover held a 26-21 lead at halftime before Perry tied the game entering the fourth quarter. The Jayettes took the lead early in the stanza and never looked back. Karagyn Whelchel led Perry with 20 points, while Maci Tunink added 11 and freshman Lily Myers chipped in 10 points. Perry starts the season 1-0 and will make their KDLS debut next Tuesday at Boone, beginning at 6:00.
