
The Greene County School Board met Wednesday night in regular session.
The meeting started with the Board approving the hirings and resignations under the consent agenda. The Board recognized two individuals who will be retiring at the end of the school year, including Kirsten Carman for her total years in education of 36 and Doug Brown for his total of 35 years. The public hearing was then held for the 2025-26 school calendar where no public comments were made, and the Board approved the calendar following the hearing.
Additionally, the Board approved four school driving permits including Jaelyn Hedges, Olivia Smith, Emmalin Wright and Amelia Gallagher; along with three fundraiser requests, and replacing a total of 50 desktop computers with new operating systems due to the current systems of Windows 10 will no longer be supported by Microsoft, with a not to exceed amount of $50,000 from the Physical Plant and Equipment Levy (PPEL).
They also approved the annual Area Education Agency purchasing agreement, a resolution to continue to participate in the Join Iowa Local Government Risk Pool for $144,993 from the management fund, and a not to exceed $210,000 to upgrade all of the lighting at the elementary and middle schools to LEDs from ROY Energy. The ratification of the negotiated agreement with the Greene County Education Association was tabled to a future meeting.
The meeting ended in a closed session for the superintendent evaluation.
